Thing-A-Day #9 – One Word Closer

I finished another word today. We’ll consider it a success.

Cross Stitch Necklaces

The entries might have lapsed, but the crafting did not. I recently finished a line of wooden necklaces that I cross stitched. The most difficult part of these items was creating the initial designs – and while more designs will likely be added, it’s nice to have a number of patterns ready – both for additional pieces but also to customize for anyone that is interested.

Here’s the current collection:

Pendants ready for bronze or silver chains.

I’m always looking for a way for people to show their school spirit without breaking copyright – so here’s a perfect option for all of my friends at KU, or any school with the same color scheme.

Can be custom made in the colors of your choice.

Instead of cross stitch, this one was done more as a string art herringbone pattern:

Looking for the perfect gift for me?

In the summer of 2012, when I first returned to Kansas, I started a blog called “Goodbye, Idaho. I’m taking these songs with me…” I’ve returned to it a number of times since, but have never been able to finish it. Music played such a crucial role in my time in Idaho it seemed like too difficult of task to complete. One day I’ll do it…I’m sure.

One band that was definitely on the list is Barcelona. Their album Absolutes is the soundtrack to 2007 and 2008. We hosted them many times at the University of Idaho, and I got to know the men well. So many good times together – including them taking me to a somewhat sketch bar in Spokane. I should have questioned that decision a little more.

The members of the band have changed since then, but they just announced this spectacular reunion –

Oh to live in the West still. So if anyone wants to buy me show and plane tickets, I would be happy to accept. These will be amazing shows.

Featured Goods – WIPs

Like any good crafter, I have more Works in Progress (WIPs) than I’ll ever have completed projects – and my jewelry venture is no different. Here are a couple of my current pieces, waiting for an order of new chains.

The necklace on the left is made with a domino and will be kept by Miss Crafty Audiophile (I’m obsessed), but I’ll make others. The necklace on the right is glass.

Featured Goods – Woodland Creatures

Let’s play catch up.

I’ve noticed a bit of a woodland creature theme emerging in my latest work. Perhaps it is because they make me think of fall and I want to do anything to encourage its arrival. Here are two pairs of earrings to add to the collection –

Just a couple of foxes and squirrels hanging out.

Featured Goods – The Giving Tree

Today’s pendant is also from my adventures in wood burning. It’s a free-styled tree –

The stain ended up being a little darker than I was hoping, but it has grown on me.
